Devlog day 5

This was the fifth and final day of development. There was still alot to do to make a full game loop possible. The idea of multiple levels and making a chaos bar to fill up and use were to ambitious for the time I had the past few days. So I had to decide how I could make the most of the different things I made so far.

I needed to simplify the game concept and therefore chose to make one big level, where the goal would be reaching the end of the level and obtaining points along the way. This way I could test the level more and optimise the paths.

With having only one level, it would be nice to have some replayability. That would be trough making it all the way to the end and also adding a score system for the game. For this I needed some sort of end screen which shows you the final score and gives feedback on why you're game over. I also added some basic sounds for the game over states.

I also had a wind sound effect I made for a different project, which I could use to add some sounds to the game.

I also needed to differ from the orginal idea of being able to go into chaos mode. This would have taken to much remaining time and would be a really unpolished mechanic otherwise. So I decided to use the bar as a speed indicator to give extra feedback that losing to much speed would result in a game over.

The final thing I wanted to add to my game was a quick tutorial so the players would know how to dodge all the obstacles. I made it very basic and short so it wouldn't take too long to play through it.

As a final check I played the level a couple of times to make sure it was fully completable and not too difficult. At the end it was a bit rushed and I would've liked to spend more time making the level more interesting and adding more buildings in the background, but was still content I uploaded a working game.
